Changing your hair color to a lighter shade using home methods is possible. All you need to make your own metamorphosis is products from your kitchen and the results can be comparable to those achieved at a professional hair salon
Before you begin bleaching your hair at home, you may want to test one thin strand of hair to see how your hair reacts to the product. It is best to do the test about a week before the actual colouring. This will ensure that the test does not lead to yellow or orange strands and brittle hair
If the test is successful you can proceed with the actual lightening of your hair. It is advisable to bleach your hair 3-4 times the first time. Remember to adjust the coloration method to your natural hair color. Don’t forget to care for your bleached hair with suitable cosmetics.
This is probably the oldest and most common way to lighten hair. However, it is important to keep in mind that it can significantly weaken the hair. Therefore, this method should only be used on healthy and previously untreated hair. You also cannot use hydrogen peroxide with too high a concentration, as the hair may become brittle and dull
Oxidized water with a concentration of 3 to 6 percent will work best. It should be mixed with boiled water in a 1:1 ratio and poured into an atomizer. Divide the washed and dried hair into layers
Spray the strands starting from the lower ones and gradually work your way up to the higher ones. Comb through your hair to distribute the drops of hydrogen peroxide evenly throughout your hair. If your hair is naturally light, leave the mixture on your head for 15 minutes, if it is dark – for an hour. After this time, rinse with cold water and wash your hair with a mild, moisturizing shampoo and apply a conditioner.
This method is perfect for blonde and red hair. Prepare a strong infusion of chamomile flowers, which you can get at the drugstore. Pour a liter of cold water over half a cup of dried chamomile flowers and bring to a boil. Boil for about 10 minutes, and then cool and strain. Use the rinse for the last rinse of your hair every time you wash your hair
Light beer is best suited for this unusual method. Wash your hair with a light shampoo and massage the beer into your scalp. Wrap your hair in a towel and leave it for 15 minutes. After this time, wash your hair again.
You can use lemon to lighten any hair color. Mix the strained juice of three large lemons with a glass of warm water. Brush through dry hair and use an atomizer to spray the mixture on your hair. Blow dry your hair with a hair dryer or let it dry naturally.
Re-apply the product and then use a moisturizing hair mask – lemon juice has a drying effect. For a lasting effect, repeat the application every week for a month.
The effect of lightening your hair with honey will be very gentle. If you want to enhance it, add a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice to the preparation. Start by mixing honey and baking soda in a 4:1 ratio and use a brush to apply the mixture to dry strands of hair. Wrap them in aluminum foil and then wrap your entire head in a towel. Leave for one hour. Rinse with lukewarm water, wash your hair with shampoo and apply conditioner.
