In the past, women with short hair had to wait for months or even years to have beautiful long hair, unless they decided to wear a wig. Nowadays, you can get hair extensions in just a few hours. You can find such an offer in many good hair salons. However, it is important to know a little more about hair extensions before you decide to go for it
Hair extensions are synthetic or natural hair extensions, which are attached to the hair in such a way that it looks like your natural hair and does not differ from your natural hair. There are different methods of hair extensions. The keratin method is the method of choice when it comes to hair extensions:
One of the most popular methods is heat extensions with keratin sealers. The advantage of this method is that it uses keratin, the natural building block of hair. The natural hair strands are attached to the artificial ones using a special device. This method is quite permanent and lasts up to 4 months. Afterwards, the treatment needs to be repeated, as the places where the strands have been welded together will become visible and it will not look esthetic. The price of the procedure: from 400 to 1100 zł
Sandwich method is the quickest and easiest way to extend hair. In this method silicon strips with artificial hair strands are glued on a section of hair at the roots. The whole process lasts from three to six weeks. The downside of this method is that the attached hair strands may be a bit uncomfortable, especially if you like sleek hairstyles. A modified version of the sandwich method is the tape-in method. In this case, however, no silicone tape is used, but the strands are sewn into strands braided into a so-called waterfall braid. However, this method is not very durable and washing braided hair is not easy. The price ranges from 600 to 1500 zł.
The safest method for our hair extensions are ultrasounds. The artificial strands are not attached with high temperatures, the bonds are hardly visible and the whole thing lasts for up to 6 months. However, ultrasound hair extensions are quite expensive and take a long time to remove. The price depends on the number of strands but on average it varies from 700 to 3000 zł
The most permanent, but also the most expensive method of hair extension is the laser method. It consists in combining natural and synthetic hair with the use of laser. Thanks to this it is difficult to see the bonding point, the effect is very natural and lasts up to six months. The price ranges from 800 to even 2500 PLN
An innovative method of hair thickening and lengthening is injection. It consists in attaching additional, usually natural, strands of hair to the base, which imitates the skin and is glued directly to the head. The effects last up to one year. It is an excellent option for people who struggle with baldness. Such treatment costs on average from 1500 to 10000 zł.
There is no special preparation needed for hair extensions. Just wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo beforehand. It is important not to use any masks, conditioners or styling products such as hair spray or mousse before the treatment. In case of the laser or sandwich method, there is even no need to wash your hair beforehand
It is worth remembering that if we decide to attach hair extensions using high temperatures, our hair may later be weakened, break or even fall out. Therefore, it is important that the procedure is performed in a professional salon, by qualified personnel – otherwise you can do your hair more harm than good
